About Us

ALFORD WHEELERS CYCLING CLUB,

The Alford Wheelers in it’s present form was established in 1952 and has been active in all branches of the sport ever since. We have a large well used clubroom in the centre of town which we have occupied for the last 36 years. This former furniture warehouse belonging to Easton’s was turned (with a lot of hard work) into our headquarters. We have snooker, pool and table tennis tables, darts and a coffee bar on the ground floor and upstairs a weight training and a committee meeting room. The club has benefited greatly from these facilities and has membership of between 70 and 80 with ages ranging from 12 to 70 and over.

The clubroom is open every Thursday evening from about 7.30 p.m., if you are interested in cycling (in any of its formats) you are welcome to join us for a coffee and a chat. You will find us on Windmill Lane, (off Carr Lane), Alford.

We organise a season long 10 mile time trial league which is worked on a handicap basis so that everybody has an equal chance.

The club also promotes two open time trials, three open road races and a cyclo-cross annually, as-well as a very popular Audax.

Our members compete regularly in open events all over the county and beyond.
